In Hyperstack, you can move a volume between environments within the same region. This operation allows you to reassign a volume from one environment to another. In this article, you'll learn the requirements and steps for performing this action through the UI.

How to Move a Volume Between Environments

Prerequisites

Before moving a volume between environments, ensure the following requirements are met:

  • The volume must be in the AVAILABLE status.
  • Volumes can only be moved between environments within the same region.
  • The volume being moved must not be attached to a virtual machine.
  • A volume can only belong to one environment at a time.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Volumes
Log in to your Hyperstack account and open the Volumes section from the left-hand menu. This page lists all volumes associated with your account.

  2. Open the Actions Menu
Locate the volume you wish to move. Hover over the "" icon in the Actions column, and select Update Environment from the dropdown.

  3. Select Target Environment
In the Update Environment dialog, click the Environment dropdown and select the destination environment for the volume. It must be within the same region.

  4. Confirm the Change
Click Update Environment to initiate the move. A confirmation message will appear once the volume has been successfully reassigned to the new environment.

Once complete, the volume’s new environment will be reflected in the Environment column on the Volumes page. You can now attach the volume to a VM in the updated environment.
