Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an additional layer of protection to your Hyperstack account. Instead of relying only on your password, 2FA also requires a one-time code generated by an authenticator app. This means that even if someone learns your password, they can’t access your account without the second factor.

This guide covers why 2FA is important, walks you through setting it up on your Hyperstack account, and explains how to disable it if necessary.

Why Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor Authentication provides an essential safeguard against unauthorized access. Even if your password is stolen or leaked, an attacker cannot sign in without also having the verification code generated on your device.

By requiring this second factor, 2FA greatly reduces the risk of account takeovers. It is highly recommended for all users and is especially important for those who manage infrastructure, handle billing, or work with sensitive resources.

How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

Supported Account Types for 2FA

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is supported only for Hyperstack accounts created with an email and password.
Accounts created using Single Sign-On (SSO) with Google, Microsoft, or GitHub are not yet eligible for 2FA, but this feature will be available soon.

To enable 2FA on your Hyperstack account, follow these steps:

  1. Open Security Settings

Sign in to the Hyperstack Console. Once signed in, go to the left-hand menu, select My Account under the Manage section, and select the Security tab.

  2. Begin 2FA Setup

On the Security page, toggle Activate 2FA. When prompted, log in again using your Hyperstack email and password, then click Continue to 2FA Setup.

  3. Scan the QR Code

A QR code will appear on the screen. Using a time-based one-time password (TOTP) app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator on your device, scan the code. Once the account is added in your authenticator app, click Continue in the setup window.

  4. Enter the Verification Code

In your authenticator app, retrieve the 6-digit code generated after scanning. Enter this code into the setup screen and click Complete 2FA Setup.

Once verified, you will return to the Hyperstack Console and see a confirmation that 2FA is Active.

Now, each time you log in to Hyperstack, after entering your username and password, you'll also be prompted to enter a 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app, adding an extra layer of security for your account.

Disabling Two-Factor Authentication

To disable 2FA on your Hyperstack account, follow these steps:

  1. Open Security Settings

Sign in to the Hyperstack Console. Go to the left-hand menu, select My Account under the Manage section, and select the Security tab.

  2. Disable 2FA

On the Security page, toggle off the 2FA is Active switch. When prompted, click Disable 2FA to confirm.

A message will appear confirming that two-factor authentication has been successfully disabled.

After disabling 2FA, you'll no longer be required to enter a verification code during login—your Hyperstack account will rely solely on your username and password for authentication.
